Pinpoint Labs Releases MetaDiscover
Extract, scrub and analyze Microsoft Office Metadata.
Murray, NE (PRWEB) March 12, 2008 -- Pinpoint Labs, a litigation support and
forensics software development company, today announced the availability of
MetaDiscover. MetaDiscover (http://www.pinpointlabs.com/software/metadiscover/)
allows users to quickly view, scrub and extract extended metadata fields without
installing Microsoft Office. MetaDiscover also allows quick access to the
'Last 10 Authors and Locations' information which is very useful and located
in Microsoft Word documents. Users can easily identify additional evidence
and data sources by viewing or batch extracting last 10 authors and locations.
MetaDiscover allows users to quickly view, extract and scrub up to 29 metadata fields.
MetaDiscover can be used to compliment the metadata extracted during electronic
discovery or to redact and scrub metadata fields. Users can create an exact copy
of the original files before scrubbing and a chain of custody tracks the entire
process and stored any redacted or scrubbed information.
MetaDiscover identifies encrypted or password protected Microsoft Office documents.
Identifying encrypted files early in the discovery process is important because
obtaining or cracking passwords to review files can be a lengthy process.
MetaDiscover creates a log of all password protected files and still has
the ability to scrub or redact privilege information.
"While supporting the file collection and discovery process we learned that
attorneys want access to additional information in Microsoft Office documents,"
said Jon Rowe, Certified Computer Examiner (CCE), President of Pinpoint Labs.
"MetaDiscover provides a quick upfront analysis that helps litigation support
professionals make critical decisions."
